Gallery # 10

Now that the cool weather is hitting parts of Georgia, especially in the North side, I see less birds stopping to eat from our feeders. Once in a while I hear the honking of high flying geese heading South. The foliage is turning to beautiful colors rapidly, our Bermuda grass lawn is already half brown, the young oaks we have in our landscaping are already shedding leaves.

  1. That’s because the Canada Goose is migrating south this time of year. They begin in spring migrating north in long lines of the V formation. They spend late spring mating and the summer raising their young. You do not see them very much in the summer because they are raising their young. the male is protecting the female and young in the summer. Then they practice taking off and landing on the lake in the late summer. In the fall, they start migrating south in the fall in long lines of the V formation.

  2. Thank you Diane for the interesting information, you are right also about the V formation.
I love it when people contribute to advance the knowledge of others. I appreciate it dearly.
