Dark-Eyed Junco, sp. name: “Junco Hyemalis”

Description:

The Dark-Eyed Junco is a medium-sized sparrow with a rounded head, a short stout bill and a fairly long tail.

Juncos vary across the country but generally they are dark gray or brown birds, brightened up by a pink bill and white outer tail feathers. They are birds of the ground, they hop around the bases of trees looking for fallen seeds.

Their habitat: Dark-Eyed Juncos breed in coniferous forests, during winter they are found in open fields, woodlands, parks, backyards.
