Carolina Chickadee

Carolina Chickadee, sp. name : “Poecile Carolinensis”

Description:

Very small size songbird with large head and short neck, its tail is long and narrow.

Carolina Chickadees have a black cap and bib, also have white cheeks and belly. The back, wings and tail are soft gray.

These species, male and female are similar in color and shape. They’re very active and are excellent flyers.

Our experience with them is that we had a couple of chickadees nesting in one of our birdhouses. They are known to nest, have their new family and when the time comes, all of them fly away but they will never use the same location for a nest again.

Their habitat are forested areas, urban, suburban ares or parks.

They are cool and fearless when defending their nest! 🙂
