I love your Cardinal pics, the male is such a bright bird. I was wondering if this image was of an immature male or is it just an adult and the lighting has made it look lesser red?
This is an adult male, perhaps he is not breeding or just completing his molting. They look super bright red when looking for mates in breeding season.
This guy could have had a bath in muddy water too. Thanks Ashley. 🙂
