Just a Few Words and Photos

June 8, 2012 8:32 am

“This post is just a small pause that I take to dedicate a few words to my blog’s followers. You have no idea the satisfaction I get when I get a comment or questions about birds or even more she a reader tells me that felt inspired to do more about birds whether in photography, feeding birds, installing bird houses, counting and naming bird species, reading more about birds habitat, migrations or their habits in general.

Those friends that write to me are very dear to me because I also get motivated to write and continue blogging, who knows maybe some day it might help some student or youngster become an Ornithologist or Bird Photographer.

Bottom line is, I thank you very much for your patience and your time when you visit my blog, of course I’d love to get a few words from all of you, every comment a reader writes has something that will help create communication and dialog which lead to learning something new. Communication build bridges of friendship among people from different nationalities without any barriers or any kind of prejudice.”

Next are some photos of several birds you might be familiar with.

  3. Once again I am stunned by how colourful your birds are.

    1. Did you know that the dietary products they eat have a lot to do with the coloration and intensity of their plumage color plus the reflection of light accentuate their brilliancy.

      1. I know now. Thank you.

  5. Blue grosbeak is stunning, but a wee bit sinister looking.

  6. Wish I was familiar with the stark beauty of the red-headed woodpecker. Have never seen one.

    1. It’s a gorgeous species, they look like animated toys in real life! You’d love them right away! 🙂

  7. You were recommended to me as the best birder on the Web. I took a photo yesterday of a bird that I don’t know what it is. I was hoping you could tell me. A photo of it is on flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/gayle_alstrom/7354561786/in/photostream.

    1. Hi Gayle! I don’t know who has told you that about me but I have to tell you that is definitely…true! 🙂 I’m jus kidding, after I copied and corrected the colors on your photograph it was clear that we are looking at a Great Blue Heron immature. He will grow to be a great looking bird! One of my favorites! I just hope that you will continue visiting my blog and lear a bit more about birds. Thank the person that recommended me for being so kind.

  8. I really like the Red Winged Blackbird and the Northern Mocking Bird. Are Stellar Jays and Blue Jays the same species of bird? I can’t tell which one I have in my backyard…. Beautiful photos! 🙂

    1. There are differences in colors mostly, if you live West of the Rocky Mountains it’s likely that you have the Stellar Jay (Blue body, dark gray head and neck. Thank you for your visit and comment Daphne!

      1. Thank you – I have Stellar Jays then. You’re welcome. 🙂

  9. Somehow the woodpecker seems out of place. Shouldn’t he be, like, pecking wood somewhere?

    1. I’m sorry but he was posing for me, he’s under contract! 🙂

      By avian101 on June 21, 2012 at 12:01 am

      1. Could you forward to me a copy of that contract, please? I’d like to modify it for use with my California birds. They are so precocious.
